This piece comes in its original NASA inspection bag (opened only for photography), along with a Certificate of Authenticity and the original parts manifest from Johnson Space Center (GSA – JSC). Please note: the original mission 911 tag is not included, but updated 911 and discrepant tags are present.
This rare astronaut mitten was designed to shield standard EVA gloves from sharp edges and extreme cold during spacewalks. Crew members were instructed to wear this APMA (Articulated Protective Mitten Assembly) during phases of extravehicular activity where hand protection was critical—such as translating between work sites—and could remove it when performing tasks requiring fine dexterity.
An early-generation astronaut mitten, this example is one of the few known to exist outside of institutional collections or museums.
