Antique Black Opal Doublet and Enamel Brooch, 14k Yellow Gold
$2,020
This striking antique brooch dates to the late Victorian period and showcases a dramatic opal doublet framed by richly detailed gold and enamel work.
The centerpiece is a large oval black opal-type doublet with vivid blue, green and magenta flashes of color, set in a hand-tooled bezel with a ribbed gold surround. The rectangular plaque behind it is decorated with a crisp Greek key border in black enamel and chased foliate panels, a classic Victorian Aesthetic/Etruscan Revival motif. Three small gold ball drops are suspended from the bottom for added movement.
Circa 1890.
